Specific Factors of Atopic Dermatitis |
>>> HOME |
Many people believe that atopic dermatitis
is an allergy. However, allergies should be considered as only one
of many inducers. For example, inside a house, in addition to the
presence of mites, formalin and methlybenzene from building materials
and paint are released into the air. Additives and agricultural chemicals
in food, and the effects of mixed feeds should also be considered
as causes of hypersensitivity to chemicals.
Those who have atopic dermatitis tend to have dry skin. In the summer
they often experience miliaria due to difficulty in perspiring as
the sweat pores on the surface of their skin are not
able to open very well, and in the winter their skin is dry
and rough due to the lack of moisture in the skin. I believe that
this morphological and functional abnormality is the basis for atopic
dermatitis. New born babies and infants have immature skin and internal
organs. They are susceptible of miliaria from the skin's sensitivity
and the baby's weak ability to adjust to changes in temperature. However,
as they grow up, they develop normal functions, and the immune system
forms a barrier on the skin's surface. This explains why it used to
be said that atopic dermatitis disappears
by the time one begins a primary school. It is possible to
say that skin maturation is nowadays inhibited. What, then is the
inhibiting environmental factor? What touches our skin and has deteriorated
in the last twenty years? It can't be anything else but water.
I believe the major factor of atopic
dermatitis is residual chloride in the tap water which causes chloride
dermatitis that I proposed. |

( ) is the percentage atopic dermatitis
patients. |
10% of the people who responded said their skin is
irritated by mites or dust. 31% of the respondents said they experience
a stinging sensation from bathing. Does the skin sting because of
water's high temperature or chemicals in the water? Either way, these
everyday stimulations may worsen the condition and cause it to become
chronic.
Questionnaire can bring these hypothesis. |
